Every player plays as a Dreamlord in the game. You have to handle two aspects or play the 2 modes: RTS mode, where you engage in battle and conquer new territories. Here you will frequently fight against other players who also try to conquer your lands. Of course you can team up with others to battle the evil and complete quests. The second mode is management mode, where you manage your resources and your Patria. You can assign your people and make them gatherers, researchers, craftsmen, or warriors this mode is available to play in game as well as on Dreamlords website. By playing the two modes you will research new troop types and technologies, gather resources, and acquire and craft equipment for yourself and your army. On the hand, you can buy traits and talents for your Dreamlord by using Trait Points you earn.

Another interesting feature Divine Souls Gold of the game is its Era setting, which makes the game like offline game where you beat it stage by stage. In Dreamlords, each Era lasts for two month and in the two months' time, stronger and more powerful enemies will be brought in for you to battle. Of course you have to keep develop your army to get ready for the challenge. After an Era ends, your performance will be calculated and ranking ladders will be published. You will then start another new Era with the previous equipment you earned.
