Lunia Online has a dozen classes to choose from as players rise in levels, and they all fan out from 3 base archetypes that players get to select from level 10. Before level 10, all players are beginners, carving out their education at Geneway College. At level 10, they decide their destiny as a strong and loyal Warrior, a cunning and artful Rogue, or a sage and brilliant Magician. While a character in each of these classes is able to do well as a solo class in the game, they also fulfill a unique role when in a party, especially once the player begins to further specialize his character.
At level 40, each of these 3 archetypes breaks off into 2 different subclasses each.
Warriors can go the more defensive route and become Knights equipped with shields, or the more offensive route as Fighters wielding two-handed weapons.
Rogues, with strong individual melee and ranged skills, can choose to become Scouts, or with a desire for a larger role in a party, they can take the Artists path.
Magicians can either delve deeper into the dark arts and become Warlocks, or focus more on the arts of recovery and light by taking up the mantle of Priest.
Later, at level 80, each of these 6 classes is presented with two more subclasses, giving 12 final classes to choose among with many of these final classes being hybrids between two different archetypes.
"The class system in Lunia Online is varied and complex, commented Philip Yun, COO of Outspark. While players will only have access to the first 6 subclasses in the beta, we will be giving previews of the 12 final subclasses before they are released at the final launch of the game. Each subclass really brings a unique flavor to the game and allows for deeper specialization in how players want to play their character. We will also be keeping a careful eye on class balance to ensure that all classes are well represented in a party.
To help players in the decisions they will make along the way, a class grid is setup in game that maps out the archetypes and their associated classes. Using this grid, players can easily see all the classes available, as well as the requirements to gain access to the various subclasses. As each subclass is chosen, players will start at class level 1 with that new class. As they gain experience, their class level will rise alongside with their normal character level. The levels gained in each subclass will also increase the effectiveness of their class skills and unlock (Lunia Gold)new class specific skills in their skill book. Players who invest heavily in their class are rewarded with more power and specialized skills that help them unlock their true destiny in the world of Lunia Online.
