Kabod Online, an upcoming online fantasy game, has been on the edge of MMO gamers’ lips for quite some time now for a multitude of reasons. The biggest of these reasons –and I do mean biggest – is that Kabod Online is the first real attempt at creating a “Sexy MMO”, though there are few gamers who will admit they’ve been keeping an eye on it for that reason.
Kabod Online is the first free-to-play MMORPG that truly takes a shot at doing something new. While the core of the game itself borrows heavily from industry giants such as Lineage 2, Runes of Magic and Fiesta, and combines it with a smooth interface and interaction system such as World of Wacraft’s, it’s still nothing new to us. What makes Kabod Online truly unique is the fact that they’re willing to cut out a large portion of the free-to-play market, making the game exclusively for adults.
It’s usually at this point that we begin to envision the screaming parents, Kabod Gold outraged that a fantasy game would allow such pornographic filth as boobs; however, it’s important to note here the difference between “Erotic” and “Pornographic”.
Kabod Online is not pornographic. Just as a difference exists between sexy movies and porn flicks, the difference is the same with games. The primary source of said erotic material comes from the armour degradation system. Simply put, throughout a battle the combatant’s armour can literally be torn off their bodies, leaving less to the imagination and more for the eyes. While a game that allowed players to run about tearing the clothes off of helpless hordes of girls with a colossal sword would normally seem distasteful (near criminal when you truly think about it) this mechanic applies to every single player and creature that has anything that can be belted off their hides through brute force; male, female or monster doesn’t matter, it applies to all.
Knocking the pants off everyone you meet isn’t the only thing that Kabod Entertainment have put a lot of effort into. The character and costume models are truly stunning with high poly-count models and extremely detailed textures (no, I don’t mean the boobs now...). The upcoming NPC dating and gambling system promises to open up many new doors as well, despite the fact that the developers have been keeping the details close to their chests.
Despite all of the new features being pioneered in Kabod Online, great amounts of time have been spent improving on standard features like combat. All player animations are very smooth, though the real gems are the battle animations. Clearly, a lot of time and effort went in to choreographing the combat moves to a point where words alone cannot accurately describe them, though you can take my word for it: watching your character fight is an absolute wonder.
