A Huge Problem and Some Minor Annoyances

One of the largest problems with is the payment model that they have made for the game. Yes, it's a P2P game, but I have no problem with that. Yet, Dungeons and Dragons Online the game offers no trial, and in order to try or play the game, players must first pay $50 for a key, which also comes with 50 free hours of in-game time and 100 units of premium currency. The 50 free hours that they give you are worth about $10, so, essentially, you're playing $40 to download the client – especially since you can pay $10 for unlimited access for a month. A steep price to play a game that didn't even allow you to check if you like it. Game time can be bought for either 20 hours, 30 days, 90 days, or 180 days. Oh, and did I mention that the 100 points that they give you for free aren't even enough to get the free 20 hours? You need 280 points for that.

Another issue I had with the game is the lack of open-world PvP – not because it was a feature I would have liked, but because it would fix some of the problems that currently exist in the game. When you see another player in the game, DDO Gold as it stands right now, unless you're in a mission with them, you cannot shoot them. Yet, DDO Gold you can also completely screw over their mission by A.

lowing up their car by shooting or grenading it B. Running their car over, blocking them in an ally, etc. C. (My "favorite") Hitting another player on the front of your car, which will carry them along with you as you drive for as long as you keep them there. If open PvP was included, instead of these annoyances, especially in the case of C, DDO Gold the player would be killed instead of their mission crushed to dust. Although, open PvP would bring along a whole new load of annoyances, such as balancing issues between new and veteran players.

I also had a slight irks with the control system of the game. The game uses WASD to move, mouse to shoot, and the spacebar to jump. While this seems like typical TPS controls, players can also run using the shift-key, depending on how much their gun weighs, crouch using the "C" key (which improves accuracy), and also aim by right clicking. My main concern came when I was standing or crouched behind an object, and I was aiming. I could clearly see the enemy character in the game, and instead of the bullet going where I was aiming (like it would have in most other shooters) it, instead, hits the ledge of the object I am behind.

The game also has some lag issues on systems that the game says meets the minimum requirements. For instance, the game said that my laptop met every requirement. But, DDO Gold when I loaded into the game, I would experiences lag spikes which would rubber band my character. I've heard that when this happens to a player, it virtually makes them unable to participate in any aspect of driving in the game which is a requirement.
