We just made an interview with Black Prophecy's product manager Francois, who told us some interesting features of the game. Check it out.
MMOsite: Thank you for taking some time to do the interview with us, first of all could you introduce yourself to us?
Francois: My name is Francois Black Prophecy Gold and I'm the product manager responsible for Black Prophecy.
MMOsite: Black Prophecy was nominated for the Best Online Game of Gamescom 2010. What's special about the game?
Francois: In comparison to the other online games that were nominated, Black Prophecy seems to have attracted the jury mostly because of its overall concept. The eye-catching graphics with real-time action combat packed up in a classic massively multiplayer online game might have been the deciding factors for Black Prophecy’s nomination for this special award.
MMOsite: People usually compare Black Prophecy with EVE online, what's your comment on these two games?
Francois: We hear this comparison quite often and again can only say that both games are two different cups of tea. Black Prophecy is a twitch-based space action MMOG that really can't be compared to any other MMOG currently on the market.
MMOsite: I know that players' ships are made of different modules, and I can combine them freely, but is it completely free? What if I want a big left wing and a small right wing (just an example:P)?
Francois: To a certain extent, yes. While ship parts become larger in appearance with increasing levels, there is a limitation for attaching those parts to your ship. This means that you won’t be able to attach a high-level wing and a low-level wing because of the large gap between the parts’ levels.
MMOsite: What define a ship's functions? The modules? Does ship have a basic frame?
Francois: A space fighter consists of five basic modules: a cockpit, two wings and two engines. The cockpit can also hold a shield generator and a missile launcher and you can attach up to two weapons to each wing. The most interesting feature here is that each of the modules has conditions that decrease with damage taken. So if you're shooting at your enemy's wings and destroy one of them or even both, your enemy will no longer be able to use the weapons attached to those wings.
